Charles Henry Martin papers, 1875-1945.

Charles Henry Martin attained the rank of Major General in the U.S. Army, then after his retirement in 1927, served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1931-1934), and as Governor of Oregon (1935-1938). This collection includes personal, political, military, and business correspondence, diaries, and memorabilia. Correspondence regarding the Ellis G. Hughes Estate is included. Also included is the certificate appointing him a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, August 22, 1917, signed by President Woodrow Wilson.
